  1. I am looking forward to this! I didn’t get great education that I can remember from when I was diagnosed. Hopefully I will learn something this time that works. x

    1. I have had type 2 diabetes for 8 years now. I am on Metformin – 2 tablets, twice a day. I am looking forward to this course to challenge and refresh my eating habits.

  2. I manage my diabetes with regular exercise, but finding healthy foods that I enjoy is a challenge. I love food and often struggle to prioritise healthy eating, especially with my IBS. Recently, my HBA1C levels have increased, so I need to take this condition more seriously. My mother was on dialysis for almost 10 years and recently passed away after a major stroke.

  3. I think my diet is now well controlled but I would welcome more informed guuidance. At 85, I find the need / advice to take more exercise is not very easy especially as I have diabetic neuropathy! I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Octoer 1995. I fear I did not take it seriosly when I was younger!!! My blood sugar with the finger test is usually around 9! I cannot remeber my last HBA1C figure although I know that I can find it from my surgery! They do tell me that my blood sugars are well controlled … but are they really or ar they just being kind!!?

  4. I’m looking forward to the live Q&A sessions. I have type 2 diabetes, caused by chronic pancreatitous. I find it difficult to balance my diet for both complaints. I’m still unsure if I am doing the right thing. I was diagnosed last year, what a shock that was!

    1. I have type 2 diabetes for one year. I am using Metformin tablets 500mg two tablets twice a day. With the help of exercise and changing their eating habits everyone can get rid of this disease. Because this is reversible. I want to known what are the best exercises and low carbs diet.

  5. I have lived with type 2 for 10 years numerous meds side effects had to stop also tried many injections no supply looking forward to this introduction and understand type 2 diabetes

  6. Please do take Diabetes seriously, it is a silent relentless killer.
I have had Diabetes for over twenty years now; it destroys a person’s life, but managed properly, a person can live a close to normal life.

  7. I am hoping to learn more about controlling my blood sugars. I understand the basics about sugars in food but have struggled to bring my finger prick readings down to a satisfactory level. I would love to be able to control my diabetes through diet alone and be free of the tablets. I know realistically this may not be possible but ….

  8. I am hoping this course will help me find a balance with controlling my blood sugar levels, I believe the cocktail of medication is not helping me along with the conflicting information about the foods i should eat, I often feel I am fighting a loosing battle. It would be good to ask questions from the experts who understand diabetes.

  9. I’m looking for two things from this course:

    1. A general overview of how to eat well that will improve my test results.

    2. A better understanding of the side effects of Atorvastatin. On the BBC Radio 4 programme Inside Health broadcast on 20th and 21st August (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00224gn) Professor Naveed Sattar hinted that some people could have a reaction to Atorvastatin that increased their Hb1Ac readings by more than is usual.

  10. I managed my diabetes for 18 years with diet and exercise and was so disappointed last year when I had to start taking metformin. Since then I have gained a little weight. I’m almost 78 and I still exercise but probably not as much as I used to do. I feel that I am becoming complacent and need to rethink everything that I am currently doing. I’m hoping this course will help me to get back on track.

  11. I have been living with diabetes for over 20 years, but until recently, I had never received proper education on how to manage it effectively. I’m now actively seeking better control of my blood sugar levels, and I find the use of glucose monitoring patches extremely helpful in tracking my spikes. However, I’m facing challenges in getting them prescribed through the NHS.

I also struggle to understand key concepts like carbohydrate counting and other aspects of diabetes management. Although I’m not overweight, there are still many concerns I have, and I’m eager to learn more. I’m looking forward to the upcoming Zoom meeting, as I believe it will be a valuable opportunity to gain further insights and guidance.
Thank you for the chance to participate!
